⁸ Therefore, I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or argument. ⁹ Likewise, I also want women to adorn themselves with respectable clothing,^[a] with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair, gold, pearls, or expensive clothes, ¹⁰ but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works.
